Asked if they would be willing to play at a hypothetical Obama inauguration ball in 2009, Beatles tribute band 'Me & My Monkey' were said to have responded: "Obama? He's a real nowhere man".

And, befitting the [I'm sure] very solemn nature of the Hindu or Buddhist or whatever religion to which these nice people belong, let us respectfully observe the commandments that:

THOU shalt NOT -

SLAP,

SPANK,

or

BEAT,

THY Monkey God idol...

Sorry, just couldn't pass it up...Now, about those chicken worshippers...

I nominate Bonzo for President! He wasn't that good of an actor, but who say an actors can't be a good, no, excellent, President?

I wonder if Hussain were elected (perish the thought!), would he appoint a Cabinet of those fishing macaque monkeys?

And what would it cost the American taxpayers to fly that little primate statue around, like the Travelocity gnome, on Air Force One (or Two) just so he could be photo-op'd in front of this or that landmark?

Tune in next week for answers to this and other pressing questions on Reality TV's "American Monkey Idol".

Maybe Obama is just a big fan of the Canadian folk-alt Barenaked Ladies (I myself am a fan of Barenaked Ladies, and I like some of the band's music, as well). (Editor's note: Not all Ladies are constructed so as to be aesthetically pleasing Barenaked - discretion is always advised...)

Partial lyrics to "If I Had a Million Dollars":

If I had a million dollars - If I had a million dollars
Well, I'd buy you a green dress - but not a real green dress, that's cruel
And if I had a million dollars - if I had a million dollars
Well, I'd buy you some art - a Picasso or a Garfunkel
If I had a million dollars - if I had a million dollars
Well, I'd buy you a monkey - haven't you always wanted a monkey?
If I had a million dollars I'd buy your love.
