San Francisco thinking

Having been to San Fran lately, I am pretty sure fireplaces are the least of their worries. It's a shame some place so blessed with natural beauty can be so mentally and spiritually dead.

A shame, yes, but no particular surprise for the city by the bay. They gave us Dianne Feinstein, need one say more?

The statistic cited regarding particulates in the air reminds me of Mark Twain's famous line: "There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics." I pity statisticians, as they have the terrible lot in life of having their work twisted and corrupted by idiots and politicians.

Being near Silicon Valley, as well as in the state that defines inauthenticity, perhaps they'll suggest that instead of fireplaces, flat screen TVs can be installed with mantels, running images of fire. Voila, virtual fireplace!

Like you, I have to agree with the writer of the article. My only criticism is that he misspelled Jane Austen.
